[TriLUG] The TriLUG Discussion List

I believe all IT related job postings should be allowed, maybe ask for
"OT - Job Posting - blah job title" to be the subject. Of course,
this should probably be limited to NC (not just the Triangle),
although, I'm always interested in any IT job that could potentially
take me to Australia!! :)
I also don't mind the OT threads if they have an OT at the beginning
of the subject. It's easy to filter and use my delete key. I also
use gmail, which keeps the threads mostly intact so my inbox is not
overrun. If you don't have an email client which does that, maybe
daily digest is an alternative. I'd be bored to death if this list
was purely Linux topics. I have made great friends through TriLUG by
finding out people's interests beyond Linux... mountain biking for
example #trilug-mtb on freenode. :) As for the TigerDirect thread,
well, it's good that citizens in this country know their rights, and
although that is a political/social issue, it involved a store many of
us might shop at... and since I don't mind OT threads... I'd like to
see them marked with OT, otherwise, whatever, no skin off my back,
delete works.
As for political, moral, blah blah threads, certainly a discussion on
abortion would be entirely inappropriate, but the discussion about
bike commuting and people sharing their experiences of other means of
travel around the Triangle area was quite enlightening. It might not
convince me to bike to work... but when my company moves from Cary to
RTP in the next 6 weeks or so, I'm now certainly motivated to check
the TTA/bike combination just to be curious if I might find it viable.
my $0.02,
David
