Matt,
I used apt-get instead of ati's installer. The driver is in the
correct place and I rebooted after it was installed.
I followed the instructions here (aside from the fact that I upgraded
instead of doing a fresh install):
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=414194

The actual xorg error is: (EE) No devices detected.
The driver version is 8.34.8

Any other thoughts?
Thanks,
Lee
