I _was_ entering the wrong key. I tried putting "" around 
the key in case that was the problem, to find I had a blank 
at the end of the key/line. I had mouse-swiped the key into 
the conf file, presumably the blank got in there. (Is this a 
file format designed for disaster or what?)

I can wep with wpa and read my e-mail at 54Mbps.

I'm off to the conference tomorrow and will be able to get 
my /. and "the onion" feed while listening to the talks.
