I think you would be hard-pressed to find "standard chassis kits" in either
Apple's laptops or in Thinkpads. Do they _manufacture_ them? Don't know and
don't care. In both cases, I _think_ you're unlikely to find the key
components in any other brands of laptops. There most certainly are some
manufacturers who design and source laptops to others. I don't think
Apple or Thinkpads fall into the category. Don't know about Dell, though.
