[TriLUG] Midi Cables for a Linux Notebook?

Hi Folks,
The last time I bought midi cables for a PC, they used a connector that
plugged into the joystick port of a soundblaster compatible sound card.
I have a midi keyboard, and I'm interested in using some Linux midi
software with my notebook computer. My notebook has Ubuntu Feisty
installed. Unfortunately my notebook does not have the joystick port,
so I need to buy a new midi cable adapter of some kind.
It doesn't have a serial port either, these seem to have been left
behind. It does have several more recent connectors like USB, firewire,
pc-card and express card.
Does anyone know what kind of midi adapters are available that plug into
a PC-compatible notebook, and also work with Linux?
Do any local stores carry any of these products?
Thanks much,
Scott C.
