Not sure how they can do that for $20/yr. but it seems cheap enough to try out. This company (http://www.ooma.com/) just came out with a (one-time) $400 device with no further charges ever. It uses P2P between other Ooma devices to send calls and can terminate calls over the PTSN (not sure how they accomplish this and details are scant). Supposedly it was started by the guy who created Skype.

I used to use Lingo, but their call quality wasn't all that great. Using the cable companies service now which is better, but too expensive at $40/mo. (after the intro price offer we're on now).
