While we're on the topic of job postings for Support Engineers...

My employer, DataDirect Technologies (www.datadirect.com) is also
looking to hire a Level 1 Support Engineer.

Don't let "Level 1" throw you; I'm a Level 1 and can assure you it's not
a phone-monkey job.  Level 1s do most of the research and testing for
customer-reported issues and see a vast majority of cases from start to
finish.

Training is very good, and if you have any background at all in data
access (odbc, jdbc, etc), you'll be a good candidate.

DataDirect is one of the (few?) places that realizes that the type of
person is more important than what the person already knows, so previous
experience isn't nearly as important as work ethic and aptitude for
problem-solving.

Of course, DataDirect is a closed-source company, so you'll have to put
your open-source instincts on hold to work here. (-:
