I asked many nice people and I asked them early. I also tried to ask
nicely. It didn't hurt that I was asking them for help to set up a
very high-profile event. :)
Those nice local sponsors for the UNC sfd2007 are, again:
* Dell (http://www.dell.com/)
Our platinum sponsor. They're funding much of the event and providing
us with door prizes and demo machines, including one of the new Ubuntu
preinstall machines.
* Redhat (http://www.redhat.com/)
Is providing Fedora gear and is sending Max Spevack to speak to us about Fedora.
* Mindtouch (http://www.mindtouch.com/)
A UNC alumnus, the head of Mindtouch--Aaron Fulkerson--is happy to
sponsor not just our local sfd2007 festivities, but is also a global
SFD sponsor. Thanks so much Aaron!
* OpenNMS (http://www.opennms.org/index.php/Main_Page)
A trilugger and Open Source entrepreneur, Tarus Balog is the head of
OpenNMS and another eager sponsor. Check out their enterprise-grade
monitoring software if you haven't already. Thanks Tarus!
* Siena Tech (Ron Joffe)
Another TriLUG connection, Siena Tech is a Chapel Hill-based
SLES/Oracle consulting firm, among other things. Thanks Ron!
* Cerient Technologies (http://cerient.net/)
A former TriLUG steering chair, Jason Tower heads up Cerient
Technologies, an RTP-based Linux VAR and consulting firm. Need
training? Need a Linux server? Call Jason.
Last but not least, many thanks to Andrew Perrin for providing us with
several hundred CD-Rs for handing out copies of TheOpenCD.
Cheers,
