For some reason copy and paste will not work for me tonite. I dont know if
its because I am trying to copy text from this laptop and trying to insert
text to my server thru putty or something is just wrong.

copying and pasting though putty, you mean with the simple double
righclick (highlight) /leftclick (paste)?
those work with any editor (pico/nano/emacs/vi, etc)
Or are you fiddling with ctrl-x/c/v functions?
