Remember that skype is a P2P network. When not in a call Skype uses your 
computer to relay traffic.
This would result in a slow down in your network. We had several 
computers in our small office lan
with skype on it and a limited bandwith pipe. It just about shut that 
network down. I won't even start
with the trojans and such.

In short, Skype is EVIL.

If you are using a windoze machine you be sure to remove the registry 
because just installing the
application does not remove it from the registry.
