generic is the kernel I am using...or at least if not now it was
changed without my knowing. I know the rt kernel does not work with
my wireless.
There's a bunch of stuff on dmesg. What exactly is useful? I'll try
reverting some more stuff next time I get online with that machine,
because it appears I reverted the wrong thing and I have to redownload
to revert, it appears. Gonna work on making that happen now.

What wireless card is it? Does lsmod show the driver module loaded ?
Have you tried booting into another kernel, say like Generic? It
sounds like a driver/kernel issue.
