[TriLUG] "certification" of dynamic DNS in hardware

I use DD-WRT, and set DYNDNS to update before my DHCP reservation is set
to expire. I think for RoadRunner, this is something like 7-days.

I really hope it doesn't mean user interface. I will feel very silly
and wonder for the rest of the day how much of the rain forest I
destroyed sending that email. So please tell me it has something to do
with the "overly frequent" updates.

What is the UI part of DDNS? I am very interested in this. I bought a
DYDNS enabled router on leave but didn't get time to play with it.

Just a note for anyone who might be trying to setup DDNS: be somewhat
skeptical of what you read @

https://www.dyndns.com/support/clients/hardware/

I noted that the page above says "DynDNS has tested and certified" the
Linksys WRT54Gv5, and has not the Netgear WGR614v6. Given that I had
access to one of each, I first tried to setup DDNS using the Linksys.
However, the same day as I deployed the Linksys, I began getting abuse
cutoffs from DynDNS due to over-frequent updates. So I took out the
Netgear to check it out, discovered that it had a DDNS UI, configured
and deployed. It has been trouble-free since then ... wrt DDNS, anyway
:-)
