We have one of the original Carterphones.
For you history buffs, the Carterphone was involved in a landmark FCC 
decision in 1968 allowing devices to be connected to the AT&T phone 
network.  Thus began the bloom of answering machines, fax machines, 
cordless phones, modems, etc...
Skype petitioned to the FCC  to allow this to apply to the wireless 
industry now.
