I have no past history with the *tex to word* but
have you looked at the rtf route.

Has anyone had any luck using oolatex or similar on a document using the
AASTeX macros? A journal is requesting Word format (yuck!). Using
oolatex gets me this:
(/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/tex4ht/ooffice-mml.4ht))
(./dualspheres-r2.aux)
Runaway argument?
