[TriLUG] OT: PoE injector/splitter - recommendations?

I need to power about 6 WAPs at the ends of fairly long
ethernet cables, and don't want to use 120V at the ends. I
assume I'll have a set of injectors where the ethernet
cables converge on a switch and I'll have a splitter at each
WAP. There are switches that inject the PoE, but these are
quite expensive.

Intrex doesn't have any PoE gear. Looking with google I can
find injector/splitter pairs for about $40, but don't know
if any are better than any other. Before doing any blind
ordering, does anyone know anything about buying PoE?

Anyone have any clues on lightning in PoE situations? At
home I have all waps/switches plugged into the wall for
power. A near lightning strike once took out a port on a
switch attached to the longest piece of ethernet in the
house. (Fortunately the switch was OK - I just moved the
ethernet cable to the next port.) It occurs to me that with
PoE, the device (wap) at the other end is floating and there
wouldn't neccessarily be any harm at the wap end from
voltages picked up from lightning on 100' of ethernet cable.
Any ideas?

Thanks Joe
