I'm not sure where Paul said he required a "REAL enterprise-class DBMS." 
  In fact, he specifically said he needs MySQL for open-source 
applications that don't support Oracle.  MySQL is perfectly capable of 
supporting very large databases and applications - it has its 
weaknesses, sure, but they aren't fatal.

I am an Oracle user and really appreciate its power when it's truly 
required, but that's not what this question is about.

Paul - unfortunately I don't have personal experience with the MySQL 
enterprise offerings, so I can't directly comment.  However I have read 
various positive things about them in the trade press, and would 
certainly consider it if I were in a similar position.  Perhaps you can 
ask MySQL directly for references, while obviously they will give you 
positive ones only, it's better than nothing.
