Sorry to summarize too drastically, but am I to understand from your
very informative treatise that the OpenMoko phone will not work in this
area, since although it has capabilities in both 850MHz and 1.9GHz, it
is a GSM-only phone, which is not properly supported locally?

( Mostly, I have stayed out of the cell-phone world, so have only a
superficial knowledge of the field. )
