[TriLUG] can't erase files: wrt54gs/dd-wrt

I have some files in /jffs what I want to erase. Just 
erasing them and rebooting, I find the files are still 
there. If I turn off jffs and reboot and then turn on jffs, 
I get the files back again. Presumably I have to do 
something hardware-wise to erase the files, since they're in 
flash memory.

Any ideas?
