[TriLUG] Substitute for pdftk?

Hi all,

I use pdftk on a daily basis, but it JUST WILL NOT compile on my Mandriva 
2008.1 system. Nor will any rpms install right.

I've written to pdftk's creator in the hope of working with him to create 
better documentation and make files, but if that falls through I need a plan 
B, because pdftk is integrated right into my business.

Anyone know any other free software that can pick apart, put together, and 
modify PDFs directly?
