Got it. Thanks. Since I have a fairly new house, I'll put it near the 4
phone lines I have outside, and patch it into the "network closet" where
I have all my coax / ethernet / phone. Probably 4 - 5 ft. max.

With my Vantage Pro, I had the console about 200 feet away from the
weather station.
Then the transmit board went bad (it was over five years old) and the
one I replaced it with just didn't have the range of the old one and I
kept losing data. I moved the outside unit about 50 feet from the
console and it works well now.
The connection between the PC and the console is RS232 over phone
cable. I've had it work at around 40 feet using Cat5, but longer than
that and the PC has trouble chatting with the unit.
