[TriLUG] Is it me or does Hardy run like a pig?

I am running a Latitude D620 with 4 GB RAM. I have noticed recently that
when I am moving big files (USB to USB, Laptop to Server, Server to Laptop,
etc...) the system freezes for 10 seconds or so repeatedly. I just have to
wait for it to unfreeze or come back when the file transfer is complete.
I'm running KDE 3.5 as a desktop. It didn't always do that with Hardy - it
started happening recently. Wierd...
