I got the walking papers from my first job out of college after 5 months 
on the job... 2 weeks before Christmas.  Thank you net32 for a lesson in 
job searching skills.

It doesn't help anyone who just got cut if I say it now, but I learned 
very quickly how important it is to have savings on hand.  One of my 
former co-workers, also in his first big-money job, had loaded up on 
expensive Christmas gifts for his family and friends--on credit.
