Spoken like someone who has never taught at the college level. :-)
The semester I taught a class in graduate school I worked more than
I'd ever worked. Up late at night working on my slides and lesson plan
for the next day's class, grading papers (even with a TA) and programming
assignments, planning programming assignments, other homework &
quizes, and then office hours answering students' questions.
The 3 hours/week I was actually in the classroom teaching were simply
the tip of the iceberg and I was only teaching one class. A full time
teacher that is just teaching will more likely teach 2-4 classes and
they will definitely spend more than 40 hours/week doing it.
Cheers,
Tanner
