[TriLUG] multi-card reader under linux

I bought a Sony MRW62E 17 in 1 card reader from Staples last
night to read SD and SDHC cards. It works fine (reads SD
cards) under windows.

Linux sees it (more /proc/scsi/scsi) as a "Sony Model: USB
HS-CF Card". On plugging it in, udev adds to dev

/dev/1-1
/dev/usbdev1.3_ep00
/dev/usbdev1.3_ep02
/dev/usbdev1.3_ep82
/dev/sg0
/dev/sda

I haven't been able to find anything useful about the
usbdev* devices with google, nor about the about the scsi
generic device sg0.

/dev/sda isn't the SD card (which I haven't inserted at this
stage), it's the card reader itself. On inserting the SD
card there are no new entries in the logs
(/var/log/[messages, syslog, debug], dmesg), /dev, /sys or
/proc. The only semi-relevant posting was by Greg K-H who
said to write your own udev rules to make devices for the
partitions. This was what I was hoping to do, but first I
need entries in /proc or /sys for the partitions in order to
run the [NAME] command.

Anyone got any ideas on how to procede here?

Thanks Joe
