I've seen clamd do some strange things.  Any chance it's an extension  
to the attachment that your dropping the message instead of removing  
the attachment.  I would look at clamd or spamd as the culprit, that  
is with out knowing more of your setup.  In any case you should be  
able to see something in the mail log.
