Systems Engineer:  Work in an exciting and dynamic environment supporting high-volume web sites and managing Linux-based servers in a virtual environment. Must be able to work in a team environment and communicate with technical and nontechnical staff alike.
Primary Responsibilities




	- Design, install and manage systems in a clustered VMware environment. 

	- Manage VMware ESX hosts using Vcenter and other VMware management tools. 

	- Support production application and database servers to ensure the stability, reliability and security of the systems. 

	- Work closely with a team of software engineers to support their development and test environments, including the source code management system (SVN). 

	- Assist with the planning and design of systems architecture to allow rapid scaling to meet demand. 

	- Develop and maintain documentation related to the design, installation, and administration of production systems. 

	- Monitor, evaluate, and solve potential hardware and software issues. Manage projects, tasks, and requests in support of customer base. 


Qualifications:



	- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience as a Linux systems engineer or related position. 

	- Experience managing an ESX cluster with shared SAN storage. 

	- Strong database skills, especially MySQL and Postgres . 

	- In depth knowledge of Apache web server configuration and tuning. 

	- Experience with network and systems security including server hardening, intrusion detection/prevention, log management, vulnerability assessment and remediation.  

	- Experience with web-based scripting languages such as PHP and Perl. 

	- Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems. 

	- Knowledge of build and release engineering processes a plus. 

	- Strong verbal communication skills and a willingness to interact with members of a variety of business groups. 

	- Willingness to work be on call and work after hours as needed.

. Administration of Windows & Linux Servers to ensure maximum performance and uptime. 

. Administration of VMware and server virtualization 

. Responsible for Microsoft Server Clustering 

. Responsible for Microsoft Exchange 2003 

. Responsible for System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 

. Responsible for server performance and up-time 
. Responsible for Data Backups. 

. Responsible for the support, ADIC tape library,
 Veritas Net Backup. 

. Proficient in Active Directory. 
(Single Forest - Multi Domain) 
. Responsible for active directory and server security 

. Responsible for DHCP/DNS. 

. Proficient in BES. (Blackberry Enterprise Server) 

. Responsible for VPN technologies. 
(ISA & Cisco) 

. Responsible for the support SSA,
 EMC Storage Area Networking (SAN),
 Network Attached 

Storage (NAS) devices. 

. Responsible to establish and support Disaster Recovery Strategy's to ensure IT systems 
continuity. 

. Responsible for the support of file services print services. 

. Responsible for Microsoft Share Port Services 2003/2007 (WSS) 

. Responsible for MS SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (SPS) 

. Responsible for MS Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) 

. Responsible for MS Visual Source Safe (Ver. 
6 and 2007) 
. Responsible for the support of MS SQL Server 

. Interface with hardware and software vendors to keep systems operating. 

. Responsible for network engineering and administration 

. Responsible Cisco switch and router administration 

. Responsible for data center operation. 

. Responsible to develop and maintain data center operational procedures. 

. Responsible for Data Center and Network Security

. Proficient in Cisco equipment,
 including Cisco wireless technologies 


Experience/Education: 
. 5-10 years Data Center Administration experience. 

. Microsoft Exchange 2003 

. EMC and IBM SAN Administration 
. BS degree in Computer Science/Business or related discipline degree 

. Windows Server and Desktop Architecture,
 Active Directory,
 Exchange, 2003, migration experience. 

. Oracle RDBMS,
 SQL familiarity to provide support to Data Base Administrators. 

. Web Sphere, HTML experience supporting application development. 

. CipherTrust, WebSense, Norton Endpoint Protection, Iron Mail experience 
. Cisco equipment and Cisco technologies 

. 4-6 years in AIX Systems Administration a plus 

. Microsoft MCSE and Cisco CCNE Certifications 

. VMware or server virtualization experience
