Senior Network Administrator

Overview

The Senior Network Administrator is directly responsible for managing the Information Technology infrastructure of the company.  This person maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with and management of other network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.  This person will report to the Director of Operations.  A Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education is required.  US Citizenship and the ability to attain a security clearance are required.

Main Responsibilities

Is smart and gets things done.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Installs, configures, and maintains the organization's local area network, internet connections, servers and workstations.
Provides setup and management of NAS and SAN devices.
Acts as primary organizational interface with information technology (IT) vendors and provides internal analysis and support.  Recommends needed hardware and software upgrades.
Manages performance of multiple hardware and software platforms at the most complex level.
Manages backup and recovery of company data.
Manages company phone and email systems.
Works with engineering to manage source code repositories.
Provides configuration and management of heterogeneous server environments including Microsoft Windows based servers and Linux servers.
Maintains company internet connection.
Maintains log and metrics of IT support issues.
Facilitates compliance with software licenses.
Administers or facilitates administration of company databases.
Provides support and direction of configuration of company internet web site.
Interfaces with company security officer to help with compliance of security regulations.

Helpful Skills and Experience

Database configuration and interface (SQL).
Use computer scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, or equivalent to automate processes.
Use of Web-based languages such as HTML, Javascript, PHP, or similar for minor maintenance of web sites.
Configuration and management of Subversion repositories.
Experience installing and configuring Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SharePoint
