Hello Scott,

I have the same problem in my Ubuntu installations.

Usually when I restart firefox and have it restore the sessions, I have 
a new tab that announces that Firefox has been updated.  My guess is 
that the application self-updates and becomes unstable.

The windows version seems to handle this better.
