Characteristic, yes. VMware has many fine examples of virtualization
software to their name, which may even distinguish them from their
peers. However, this is not an *essential* characteristic of the
company. If that was the case, they could not both be VMware while
simultaneously producing a bad product. In reality, this possibility
always exists.
Nitpicking of definitions aside, I simply took exception to your
implication that VMware could do no wrong based on their track record.
If the world worked that way, we would have had a decent Matrix
trilogy.
This is more fun than studying. Apologies to Charles for the derail.
