[TriLUG] process info collector

I'm not sure if this went through as it was sent during the mail systems
bout with constipation.

If so, please excuse the double post. I asked this on the redhat list
but really didn't get what I was hoping for.

We run some agentless monitoring tools. One of the consequences is that
we occasionally have situations where we lose connectivity to the server
being monitored.

For example, sometimes when cpu gets overburdened, the connection
attempt fails. This results in loss of information such as processes
that were running at the time of the incident.

I was looking for a tool that runs locally that could record and store
process related information periodically. I know I can write some
scripts to do this, but was hoping to find something that would be
efficient and have some features that I would not have time to script.

Does anyone have an suggestions?

Currently we run RHEL 4.x and 5.x
