As cumbersome and wonky as it is to unsubscribe to a mailman list,
it's just as combersome and wonky to subscribe to it.  So when someone
ends up getting 10-15 "extra" messages in their inbox a day they have
to have *some* idea where they came from, and how to make them stop.
