Not to discourage you from asking DB questions here, but you may find 
the Postgres lists more immediately helpful to you.  When you ask DB 
questions there, the developers and big whigs in the PG community will 
read them (even Tom Lane, the perhaps most well-known PG hacker is a 
member of those lists), and often respond.  Speaking from experience, 
the help from those lists is *very* on target, and often answers 
questions you didn't know you should have been asked.

Glad you figured out your problem, though.  :-)
