The DVRs from TWC come in a variety of flavors. Up until last year, I had
tried each iteration. They vary by geography, too. The second-generation
DVRs in Raleigh were pretty good. The first HD model offered here had very
few functional differences, but it did not seem like the hardware was quite
up to task - it was always sluggish.  My sister moved to Greensboro and the
DVR they gave them is horrid compared to the one they (and I) had in Raleigh.
They complained, but for whatever reason, Greensboro TWC customers can only
get a much older (and far inferior) model.

When I switched to DirectTV it was like a dream come true. Their HD DVR is
FAR superior to the TWC HD DVR, IMO. At least, comparing the two options
that were available last year when I switched.
