some errors, (possibly unallocated disk errors, not exactly
sure) are unrecoverable. The disk marks them as bad and you
can't reverse this. I had 100,000 disk errors in about an
hour when a power supply went flakey. The disk is fine, but
those blocks are permanently marked bad.
