Hey guys I am looking to purchase a USB MIDI controller that will work
with Mixxx on Linux:

Does anyone have a VCI-100 or VCI-100MKII I could see? (I have seen
the Hercules RMX at Sam Ash in Raleigh but it wasn't hooked up to
anything. They didn't have the VCI-100 series since they are
discontinued, but they did have a VCI-300, but that probably won't
work in Linux)

I'd really like to try and hook up a VCI-100 controller to my laptop
with Mixxx and see if I can get it working adequately

I have organized some relevant information on the controllers I'm
interested in here:

I like that the bigger jog wheels on the Vestax controllers over the
smaller ones on the Hercules RMX. but I don't have any good reason to
prefer the bigger ones, it's just how I feel.

I like that the VCI-100MKII has a built in sound card, but I'm not
sure how it would work on Linux combined with the USB MIDI
functionality. I know that USB sound on Linux is pretty good though..
so I have high hopes.

The VCI-100 doesn't have a sound card and I consider that a drawback..

The Hercules RMX while it works well in Mixxx requires a special
driver to work in Linux (unlike the VCI-100 series) which would
require me to rebuild the driver on every kernel update and sometimes
patching the source of the kernel module with every new upstream
kernel..

Thoughts? Suggestions?

JB
