My v2 runs Tomato and only reboots when the power goes out... otherwise,
it just runs and runs and runs. I would not call a weekly reboot "good
service".

These devices have been known to act up when using the cheap wall wart
power supplies that normally come with them... try using a known-good
power supply and see if it still reboots.
