[TriLUG] Redhat is Moving

I agree.  I regularly attend meetings for various clubs in North Raleigh,
Cary, and downtown Durham, and have never considered the few extra miles as
a decision of whether I will attend.  Given the size of our group, we should
be very thankful that we have had a great location at RedHat for years and
hope they will continue to allow us to meet somewhere. Finding a space that
large is not easy. Even finding smaller places can be difficult at times as
most companies require an employee to sponsor the meeting, so what happens
if that employee quits, or is unavailable a specific meeting month, etc?

As for having floating locations, I think it would result in a big drop in
attendance everywhere as it would cause more confusion. I was one of the
members of the IEEE Embedded group and we had a pretty good following until
we decided to go to a more irregular meeting schedule (at the same location)
and that caused enough confusion that many just stopped going and we had a
big drop in attendance.

So to summarize, I would honestly be happy with it anywhere, as I will go as
often regardless of where it is.  However, I think those that are stating we
should move would get a lot more traction if they were able to find an
alternate meeting location first and then propose it, instead of just
wanting something closer for them without going through the trouble of
securing a large (and free) location - it is not always easy.
