[TriLUG] where to report scam phone call

Today, I received a phone call that I believe was a scam. The caller
claimed to be from "Windows Support" and said that my computer had been
reporting that it was infected via "internet protocol". He then wanted
to know if my computer has any issues with being slow.

I egged him on and pretended to be a slightly clueless Windows user. I
booted up a Windows system, so that I could play along with the things
he wanted me to do. He wanted me to go to the event log. One of the
first things he wanted me to do was filter the log to not show
"information" level logs. Then he wanted me to delete an entry. When
that didn't work (since I had intentionally logged in as an unprivileged
user), he started asking more questions about the events in the log, the
users associated with the events, etc.

I was never quite able to tell whether he was trying to get information
or to get me to help him compromise my system. After a while, I
pretended that I had to leave very soon for a meeting and asked for his
name and phone number. He gave me an answer for both. I do not yet know
if anyone will answer the phone if I call back the number he provided.

Where should I report this information? I'd like to see some sort of
follow-up via law enforcement.

Kind regards,
Justis
