I'm curious what you two think can replace e-mail?
We practically run our business on email and web. Instant messaging has a long list of problems,
but the biggest is the "instant" part. 99% of our communications does not need to be instant.
Fast yes, but not instant. The constant barrage of interruptions that comes with IM brings a
massive hit to productivity. Phone is irreplaceable when needed, but we avoid it when it isn't.
Faxes have been replaced by email and web...or efax when our customers demand an actual fax.
I can only think of two improvements you could bring to email that would noticeably improve
our business:
1. widely-adopted security standards for message signing, encryption, etc.
2. eliminate spam
For the most part, we've achieved the second with relatively minimal effort. #1 continues
to elude, though.
