This is to Jeff and Pete, who had the latest openwrt 
build put on their wrt54g.

Jeff can you e-mail me off-line and we'll continue from 
there. (Pete I have your e-mail)

I couldn't get Jeff's machine to hand out a dhcp to the 
client, even if it was associated. When I got home I found 
the same thing for a wrt54g v1.1 at home. On going to the 
openwrt site

it seems that you should use an older version of openwrt 
with the wrt54g machines.

I'll see what I can do at home with my machine. I'll let you 
know if I find a fix.
