The cost of the former error is small.  The cost of the later error is
potentially much larger, if it causes embarrassment to someone.

Even though I most often want my reply to go to the whole list, I would
prefer that it default to "poster."

I think there's also a setting which governs whether a person's own
messages are sent back to him, along with everyone else on the list.  If
the default is to reply "poster" then the default should also be that the
sender is included among the recipients, so that he'll be more likely to
notice if he accidentally sends to just one person when he intended to send
to the whole list.
