Tomorrow (Tues) venus will transit the face of the sun
starting about 6:05pm. The sun will set before the transit
finishes. To see the ToV, you need a clear view to the
horizon in the NW direction and no clouds. Here's the cloud
forcast at 6pm tomorrow for Lake Jordan, a popular local
site for amateur astronomers.

The cloud cover forcast for the Triangle (and many other
places on the east coast) is dodgy. Likely spots within a
day's drive are the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and a wide
band across SC which stayd clear for the duration of the
transit.

I don't know anything about SC, other than driving down I95.
Can anyone recommend a pleasant spot to hang out for about
4hrs tomorrow afternoon, with a clear view to the horizon in
the NW direction? I'd be happy to stay at a roadsize
reststop, except they usually have trees. A park, grass or
mountain top would be nice.

Thanks Joe
