The short answer is: yes.

To be more verbose, to begin with, I was not making any edits to things,
but was finding more and more errors in the generated grub.cfg files as
I installed more distros.

As well, even when I do make use of the "local" configuration in
/etc/grub.d, the "automatically generated sections" duplicate that
effort and really mess up the Grub Menu.
