[TriLUG] / is /dev/root and not /dev/sda?

What if you simply check whether the device for / is a symlink and if it
is, resolve it (recursively). Seems clean enough to me.
It does sound like a udev thing. I guess it might be similar to /dev/cdrom
and /dev/dvd.
