[TriLUG] TWC Cable Modem requirement for +30Mbps

Greetings all,

I have TWC's standard package (20down, 1up I think) and am considering upgrading to the 30/50Mbps plan.  I am wondering if they can make the speed change via new modem config w/out replacing my existing modem.  I know they replaced my cable modem a couple of years ago that supported (at that time) higher speeds.  Currently, I have the Motorola SurfBoard SB5101 cable modem running s/w vers: "SB5101-2.8.5.0-GA-03-501-NOSH"
