Skype works great for me. Echo from two devices in bedroom sounds like
acoustic feedback loop that would, indeed, necessitate headset/mic.

Just curious: why would two devices in same room need to communicate
over Skype?

Yeah, Skype is REALLY bad about echo when you have a call between two
devices in my bedroom. Skype won't work unless the talkers all use
headphones I think. Got me curious how well BT headsets would work in
the same close proximity scenario.
