[TriLUG] Bandwidth Options and Opinions

Anyone got any evidence (anecdotal or otherwise) on the reliability of
AT&T Uverse vs TWC Wideband? Right now, I've got a 50Mbit capped
Wideband connection, but bandwidth consistency and ping jitter are all
over the place.

I'm wondering whether switching to Uverse would help. All they can
offer is a 30Mbit cap, but I have no idea whether that'd be a
more-consistent 30Mbit, or what would happen to the ping jitter.

The real problem is that we use a lot of VoIP in our household, and
the call quality just ain't what it should be, and that's mostly
traceable (as far as I can tell) to an inconsistent signal rather than
insufficient bandwidth.

I'd gladly pay for a T3 if a T3 were reasonably-priced, but that isn't
the case, so I'm looking for the closest consumer-priced equivalent.

Heck, I'd even buy a T1 for exclusive VoIP use if the price was right,
and keep the TWC line for regular Internet use.

FWIW, this is mainly for use by a 501(c)3, so if anyone knows a
friendly T1 (or T3) provider with rock-bottom prices for charities,
that would be good to know, too.

Thanks,
