[TriLUG] Thinkpad random beeping

Occasionally my thinkpad gives a random beep.  I've inspected dmesg
and /var/log/messages and can't see what's wrong.  It's not the
"system beep" noise.  I'm worried that it's some sort of alarm, but I
can't figure out for what!

It happens so occasionally that I haven't been able to pinpoint where
it's coming from on the laptop to help narrow down the diagnosis.

Any ideas?
