I believe OS/2 when out of support either in 2000 or 2001 but production
ceased for it years before. I did like the OS, it should have stopped MS
proliferation but IBM never marketed the system. That said, running an OS
that is not supported is a security problem, even if there are only a
couple of the systems on the planet working, it still is vulnerable - to
what extent, I have no idea. I will say, without continued support,
it
will become more and more problematic to run. Should it crash one day,
calling someone to assist you in getting your files off of it will be
impossible. So, to sum up, the general administration of the system is my
biggest concern should problems occur.
