Absolutely. Or if you are dealing with, say, more than just your family
pictures. Maybe you work for the CIA, or NASA, etc. It might be worth it to
someone to build a supercomputer just to get at the data on your laptop.
And you really don't want to have to spend millions on cracking your
passphrase if you just happen to forget it.
Quantum computers make all of this (and many other things) much more
complex, though I guess we'll also get a different type of security with
them.
